When all you have ever known is touchscreens and smartphones, a rotary dial phone might as well be from the Moon.
Teenager Braylon Daigle proved this once again in a viral video shot by his mum, 39-year-old Kimberley Phillips.
Phillips encourages Braylon to try and call her on an old-fashioned rotary dial telephone and it does not go well.
First he begins by dialling the wrong way round, sticking his finger in the zero hole before spinning the dial to the number he wants.
As those born before the age of the mobile phone knows, you are actually supposed to put your finger in the number you want and then rotate the dial round to the metal catch.
But this is only the first mistake for Braylon, from Louisiana in the United States.
As his mum laughs at his confusion, he loudly complains that he cannot find the zero button.
The teen then picks up the receiver only to hear nothing but beeps. Increasingly frustrated, he keeps trying to redial as Phillips dissolves into laughter off camera.
Finally, in a sign of the times, the poor youngster pulls out his modern smartphone while Phillips exclaims: "What are you going to do, Google it?!"
